You’ve been through the classes. Can I
ask you some questions?
1. Are you now more aware of the
triggers to your symptoms?
Yes, although I was quite aware of these before joining the course,
through some therapies I had been through. The "stress roundabout"
was a really useful
tool to aid recognition of the various triggers.
2. Do you have a greater understanding
of your body's reaction
to stress and how to relax?
Yes, definitely. This was the most valuable part of the course in my opinion,
especially the connection between breathing correctly and overall relaxation.
Being shown exactly how muscles have to be stretched in the opposite direction
to their habitual overuse, was very helpful too and is making a real difference.
3. Having written an action plan to
address issues contributing
to your stress, do you feel able to
take more control in addressing these
issues?
Yes. A regular programme gives me a sense of purpose and an achievable goal.
The DVD then acts as a reminder of various exercises that can get
forgotten
after some time.
4. Do you feel the course has
contributed to an improvement in
your wellbeing and a reduction in
attendance at the surgery?
I think it has and in my case it certainly has prevented frequent attendance at
the
surgery. I feel better just for knowing and understanding that I have a
targeted support programme that I can rely on, that is easy and quick to use.
